What does Glacis actually do?
It watches what AI agents and automated tools do on your Mac — files they touch, commands they run, where they connect — and stops to ask you before anything consequential happens. It shows you what it saw and why it is asking, so you are deciding rather than guessing.
How finished is this?
Not very. It is an alpha we are actively changing. Expect rough edges, occasional wrong calls, and screens that move between builds. If something looks wrong, it may well be wrong — tell us.
Is there a warranty or any support commitment?
No. This build is provided as is, with no warranty and no guarantee of availability, support or fitness for any purpose. It is not a security product you should depend on yet, and nothing here is a promise about what it will catch.
Which Macs does it run on?
Apple silicon Macs — M1 or later — on macOS 13 or later. Intel Macs are not supported. There is no Windows or Linux build.
Why does it ask for Touch ID?
Because changing what is running on your Mac should need you, present, every time. Installing asks for Touch ID, and so does every later update. Glacis never installs itself in the background, and cancelling leaves the running version exactly where it was.
Does it update itself?
It checks for updates shortly after it starts and every six hours after that, and you can check on demand in Settings. When an update is ready it tells you and waits for you to choose Install and restart, which asks for Touch ID. Quitting normally never installs anything. You can turn checks off in Settings; that stops downloads and installs too.
Updates roll out in stages, so two Macs can honestly be offered different versions on the same day. That is expected, not a fault.
What leaves my Mac?
The app checks a public update feed for new versions, and asks this site for the installer when you download it. Signing in here uses your Glacis account. What Glacis observes on your Mac is shown to you locally — read the in-app explanations before granting anything, and tell us if any of it is unclear.
How do I get rid of it?
Glacis ships with an uninstaller that removes the app and its hooks, and it asks for Touch ID too. If anything is left behind or the uninstaller refuses, that is a bug worth reporting.
Something broke. Who do I tell?
Email mac@glacis.io — a confusing screen, a wrong decision, a crash, or just something that felt off. There is also a feedback box in the app that includes the version you are running. We would genuinely rather hear it than not.
